Just my own little corner where I post things about Disney, animation, Broadway, Disney, Doctor Who, Disney parks, art, and Disney.

I am an attractions cast member at Walt Disney World in Florida. I've worked at every ride in Fantasyland and am currently a driver at Kilimanjaro Safaris.

“Peter Pan” 1953

The following pencil sequence has animation from a variety of animators.

Peter: Kahl, Harvey Toombs, Eric Larson

Wendy: Hal Ambro, Ken O’Brian, Eric Larson, Harvey Toombs, Kahl

Tinker Bell: Marc Davis, Les Clark

Even though many animators worked on these few character, there really aren’t any off model scenes. Kudos to the 1950ies Disney clean up crew. Just pencil lines on paper, no color, creating the kind of magic that…..makes you feel happy!

The Disney film that didn’t get to be
After the completion of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” there were two different projects in pre-production as possible follow ups . One was “The Sword in the Stone” developed by Bill Peet, the other one was “Chanticleer” developed by Ken Anderson and Marc Davis. Unfortunately, Walt was forced to pick only one and picked “The Sword in the Stone”. Marc Davis’ concept sketches for Chanticleer, an arrogant rooster who is convinced that his crow makes the sun rise in the morning, were full with personality and charm. Marc himself said that he thought some of his best drawing while working at the studio were for Chanticleer.

I wonder if Don Bluth ever saw any of those? Maybe Rock a Doodle wouldn’t have been as awkward.

Glen Keane’s example of Rapunzel using her hair.

I know the cg’s pretty and all, but can you imagine if Rapunzel had been 2d and Glen Keane had been her supervising animator? IT WOULD BE LIKE ARIEL x 10 MILLION. SO GORGEOUS.
